I just spoke with a very close friend about 30 minutes ago. He and his family are going through a life change. He has been called to be the pastor of his second church.
During our conversation, I heard something in his voice, that was there before, but is so much more prevalent now. I could hear his Humility. This man has been humbled. His whole person has changed. The Lord our God has turned him more toward Jesus.
I have had a similar experience. I too have been humbled over the last couple of years. I have let go of some selfish desires and ambitions and allowed God to change my life. I have stopped trying to shove God into the box I want Him to fit into (besides He will not fit!).
I know this is a revelation for my friend and me from the Holy Spirit, but humility does not always have to be a spirit led thing. We are all to be humble. Scripture tells us to humble ourselves before God. So why do so many people miss this important lesson of God?
Our leaders from the public office to our churches, could stand to learn or relearn this valuable lesson.
Our leaders in Washington, Austin and Dallas City Hall, all have lost their humility, if they had any at all. They believe they have the God given right to be where they are, and they forget it was a God given gift! They vote for their bribers and not for their voters.
Some of our pastors and vocational ministers are not much better. Acts 9:31 tells us that we "The Church" should live in the fear of the Lord (humility), but THEY try to be God. THEY save people, and THEY put out bulletins that tell you how many people THEY saved while just down the road, another Muslim Mosque, or Mormon Temple spring up, because they are not humbling themselves and teaching the truth from the pulpit, sunday school or bible study.
And they also forget that being in their leadership position is a God given gift and responsibility, not a license to build the biggest, most monstrous mall church in the world.
Humility brings us to help the orphans and the widows, not be the lap dogs of the people with the most money.
Let us wise up, humble ourselves and stop playing God, because we are bad at it!
God Bless and God Speed
